Start with the deliverable
A creative lead planning a small product launch may need several kinds of asset: a photograph with a new background, a poster with a short headline, and a simple illustration for the website. Write down the required file and the revisions it must support before choosing a subscription.
The shortlist below is organized by those needs. Each row gives you a reason to investigate a tool and a condition to check. A documented feature can establish whether a workflow is possible; your own brief will determine whether the results are useful.
| Your next task | Option to evaluate | Decision to check |
|---|---|---|
| Change the setting around an existing product photo | Adobe Firefly: image uploads, background changes, and generative editing. | Which tools and models your plan includes; whether the product remains accurate after editing. |
| Explore a short headline as part of a visual concept | Ideogram: text-and-image prompting. | Spelling, the actual language, and how you will make final text edits. |
| Deliver an editable vector illustration or icon | Recraft: text-to-vector generation and SVG export. | The exported paths, small-size readability, and the plan's commercial-use conditions. |
| Generate campaign concepts from a written direction | THE RENDER OFFICE: focused brief, mode, format, and quality controls. | Membership plus separate API costs; whether text-only input meets the brief. |
Adobe Firefly: work from an existing product image
Consider Firefly when the job begins with an approved photograph. Its photo editor accepts uploaded images and provides background replacement, object removal, and image expansion. Adobe also documents a product-background workflow that starts with a photograph and builds a new setting around the item.
For example, a stationery brand could explore a different desk surface around an existing organizer photograph. Keep the approved product asset available throughout review and compare edges, color, printed details, and shadows. An editing feature does not establish that a particular result preserves the product accurately.
On Adobe's US monthly pricing page, Firefly Standard is listed at $9.99/month with 2,000 generative credits. The plan distinguishes standard features from premium features and partner-model usage. Check the selected model's allowance and the apps included in your plan; one headline credit count will not describe every workflow or finishing tool you need.
Ideogram: explore typography within an image
Consider Ideogram for poster or social-image concepts in which a short phrase is part of the composition. Its typography guide explains how to specify wording in quotation marks and describe its placement and appearance. That gives a designer a concrete way to explore the relationship between copy and imagery.
The same guide identifies spelling errors, longer passages, and non-Latin scripts as limitations. Review the exact wording in every language you intend to publish. If a campaign requires a particular typeface, editable copy, or multiple translations, plan to set the final text in your design tool and use generation to explore the visual direction.
Ideogram offers free and paid options, with credits affected by the model, speed, output count, size, and tool. Its current plan guide directs buyers to live pricing for exact allowances and access to private generation, uploads, and advanced tools. Check the capabilities needed for your own assets before choosing a plan.
Recraft: make a vector file part of the brief
Consider Recraft when the handoff calls for editable SVG artwork. Its vector generator produces vector output from text prompts, with controls for changing the palette and detail before export. This is a useful capability to evaluate for campaign icons and illustrations that a designer needs to refine.
For an organizer launch, the brief might call for three simple illustrations representing sorting, storing, and clearing a workspace. Inspect each exported file in the editor your team uses. Check the shapes and color changes, then view the set at its intended small size. An SVG file still needs design review and may need path cleanup.
Recraft's current pricing FAQ says free-plan images are publicly visible and are not licensed for commercial use. It says images generated during a paid subscription receive commercial rights and remain private. Treat the generation plan as part of the buying decision, and check current subscription prices and conditions before creating customer-facing campaign assets.
THE RENDER OFFICE: develop a written image direction
Consider our studio if you want a focused browser interface for text-to-image work and intend to use your own OpenAI API account. Choose Campaign, Product, Editorial, or Concept mode, then a square, landscape, or portrait format and a quality setting. The work starts with a written brief.
For a fictional organizer collection, you could describe a color palette, lighting direction, material, and copy area, then revise that direction after reviewing the result. The current studio has no image-upload control, regional editor, layered canvas, or native SVG export. A brief requiring an exact supplied product or a local edit will need a workflow with those controls.
The Creator membership is currently $490/month for up to 120 renders through the studio. Your OpenAI API usage is an additional charge; the membership does not prepay that usage. Generation also requires ChatGPT sign-in and an active membership. This is a substantial commitment, so choose it only if these particular controls and account requirements fit your work and budget.
Evaluate the shortlist with one campaign brief
Use a small assignment with an explicit acceptance rule. The example here is an original, hypothetical brief for an unbranded desktop organizer. It has not been run through these tools, and it does not demonstrate a winner. Adapt the deliverable to the task you are actually buying a tool to complete.
- For a product-photo edit, start with the same approved source photograph and request the same background change. Accept only a result that preserves the product details you need.
- For a typography concept, add a short test headline such as "A place for ideas" and define where it belongs. Check every character and the planned mobile crop.
- For vector work, specify the required icon or illustration and SVG handoff. Open the export and make a real color or shape edit before accepting it.
- For a text-only campaign concept, keep the written subject, palette, lighting, and composition consistent. Judge the result in the actual page or social layout.
From the brief
Campaign concept for an unbranded desktop organizer in matte cobalt blue. Warm white desk, soft light from the left, restrained props, clear material detail. Place the organizer toward the right of a landscape frame and reserve quiet space on the left for a headline to be added in the layout. No lettering or logos.
Budget for the approved set
Compare the subscription commitment, any additional usage, and the finishing work required to reach approval. Save the settings, revision count, and reason each candidate passed or failed. Credits, render allowances, and completed assets describe different things; record what your project actually consumes.
Prices and plan conditions above were checked on September 7, 2026. Adobe's quoted price is for US monthly billing; regional pricing, taxes, and billing choices can change the total. Confirm current checkout details for your selected plan. Choose the workflow that delivers the files and editing control your next campaign needs, with a cost you can justify.

Explore the controls before choosing a membership. Generating an image requires ChatGPT sign-in, an active membership, and your own OpenAI API key. OpenAI usage is billed separately.
