Choose an illustration strategy
Translate the article’s central idea into a visual relationship. A story about focus might use a single illuminated object; a story about complexity might use a controlled stack of materials. Describe the relationship in visible terms instead of asking the model to illustrate an abstract word alone.
Keep the image’s role explicit. An invented person or scene should not be presented as a photograph of a reported event. For factual reporting, use appropriate source imagery and the publication’s disclosure standards.
Direct light and negative space
Editorial layouts often need room for titles, pull quotes, or a quiet transition into the body. Specify where the focal point should sit and how the surrounding area should behave. Test the candidate inside the actual page design.
For a material-led study, name the surface, direction of light, shadow softness, and camera distance. These choices help an art director assess a concept more clearly than an instruction such as make it premium.
Review the story the image implies
Ask what a reader might infer from the scene. A generated medical setting, protest, or product demonstration can imply facts even when the prompt was only decorative. Change the direction when those implications are misleading.
The studio produces new PNG concepts and does not provide image uploads, selective editing, or print-ready layout. Download the selected candidate, review details and usage, and finish the publication asset in your design workflow.
An example brief
Illustrative prompt · output varies
Square editorial illustration about attention. A single cobalt glass sphere on a warm stone surface, a narrow beam of morning light and a soft long shadow. Quiet composition, visible material detail, no people or lettering.
Review the result: Check the metaphor against the actual story, then inspect the sphere, shadow, and available space at the intended publication size.
