THE RENDER OFFICEAI IMAGE DEPT.

Getting started

Getting started with THE RENDER OFFICE.

What do you need before you can create your first image? A ChatGPT sign-in, an active Render Office membership, and your own OpenAI API key. Follow this guide from setup to a saved first result, using one simple campaign brief.

Instructions follow the English studio interface and official OpenAI guidance, checked September 8, 2026. The sample brief is an original starting point. Image results and generation time vary; this guide does not report a paid checkout or generation test.

1. Check the requirements and full cost

Start by deciding whether the current workflow fits your task. The studio generates images from written prompts. It does not currently accept image uploads or provide a regional editor, layered canvas, or native SVG export. For an exact real product, use approved photography and a workflow that can preserve and edit those assets.

The entry Creator membership is advertised at $490 USD per month for up to 120 renders through the studio. Membership renews monthly until canceled. Your OpenAI API usage is charged separately on your own API account. Review current pricing and terms before paying; the render allowance does not prepay OpenAI usage.

Three things to have ready before the first generation
RequirementWhat it doesWhat to check
ChatGPT sign-inIdentifies your Render Office account.Use the account you intend to return with, and keep its email consistent at checkout.
Render Office membershipEnables generation within the selected monthly render limit. After payment, the studio's account area should show an active plan.
Your OpenAI API keyConnects generation to your OpenAI developer account.Confirm the project's image-model access, API billing, and available usage before subscribing.

2. Prepare your OpenAI API access

Use OpenAI's developer dashboard to create an API key, following the official quickstart linked below. Review API billing and available usage in that account. The ChatGPT sign-in identifies you to this studio; generation uses the separate API key you supply.

The studio currently requests GPT Image 2. OpenAI's image-generation guide says some accounts may need API Organization Verification before using GPT Image models. Check the requirements shown for your project before buying a membership. Creating a key alone does not establish that your account can run every model.

Keep the key private and ready for the studio's API-key dialog. Leave it out of the image prompt, screenshots, and shared briefs. You will connect it after preparing the brief and settings, because the dialog's Connect and create button can start generation immediately.

3. Sign in and activate the membership

Open THE RENDER OFFICE and choose Sign in with ChatGPT from the account area, or Sign in from the navigation. Then review the membership section and choose Subscribe with Stripe for the plan you want. Confirm the recurring charge and checkout email before completing payment.

Use the same email as your signed-in ChatGPT account at checkout. When you return, check the account area for the plan name and the Renders this month counter. If payment completed but the membership still says Not active, allow a short time for the account status to update. Check the troubleshooting section below before making another purchase.

4. Write one manageable first brief

In the studio's Prompt field, describe the subject, setting, lighting, and composition. The field allows up to 1,500 characters. For a first exercise, keep the subject unbranded and give the image one job, such as leaving space for a landing-page headline.

This original example describes a fictional notebook concept. Use it as a starting brief and evaluate the result against the intended layout. Add final headlines and logos in your design tool; the studio's generation instructions request images without text or watermarks.

From the brief

Campaign concept for an unbranded cobalt-blue clothbound notebook on a warm white desk. Soft daylight from the left, visible fabric texture, one plain graphite pencil. Place the notebook in the right half of a landscape frame. Keep the left half quiet for a headline to be added later. No lettering, logos, or watermark.

5. Choose the mode, format, and quality

For the notebook example, select Campaign and 3:2 — Landscape. Choose Medium for an initial composition review, or High if that is the setting you want to evaluate. The studio offers both quality settings; a new generation is another request against your allowance and API account.

The other visual modes are Product, Editorial, and Concept. Pick the mode that describes the intended use, then make the written brief specific. Treat the mode as direction for generation, rather than a guarantee that an object will match a real product.

Formats available in the current studio
Studio optionOutput dimensionsA possible use
1:1 — Square1024 × 1024 pixelsA square concept board or material study.
3:2 — Landscape1536 × 1024 pixelsA wider campaign scene or hero-image concept.
2:3 — Portrait1024 × 1536 pixelsA tall editorial or social-image concept.

6. Connect the key and generate

Once the membership, brief, and settings are ready, choose Create masterpiece. If this tab has no API key connected, the studio opens the Connect your OpenAI API dialog. Paste the key into its OpenAI API key field and choose Connect and create.

Connect and create submits the prepared brief when the account requirements are met. If a key is already connected, Create masterpiece starts the request directly. Wait for the progress state to finish. On a successful first generation, the result panel displays your image and changes from Curated example to New render, with a success message.

The key stays in the current tab's memory and is sent through the studio server to OpenAI for generation. It is not saved in the site's database, cookies, or browser storage. A page reload clears it. The API connected label indicates that a key was entered; it does not independently confirm billing or model access.

7. Save the image before moving on

Use your browser's image-save option on the generated image, such as right-clicking and choosing Save image as on a desktop browser. On a touch device, press and hold the image and use the available save option. Open the saved file to confirm it contains the result you wanted.

The current studio shows one result and has no saved-project history or dedicated download button. Save a useful image before another successful generation replaces it, and before reloading or leaving the page. Keep a separate note of the prompt, visual mode, format, and quality so you can revisit the direction.

Inspect the subject, edges, material, and intended crop. For the notebook brief, place the candidate beside the actual headline and check the quiet area. If you need a revision, save the first version, change one clear instruction, and generate again. Separate generations can change details you wanted to keep.

If something stops the first image

Use the message and account status to decide what to check next. A generic generation error can have several causes, so it does not prove that your membership, key, or balance is the problem. Preserve your brief and any useful image before refreshing the page.

Common first-session problems and useful next checks
What you seeWhat to checkNext step
Not active after payingWhether you returned with the same ChatGPT account and used its email at checkout.Allow time for the status update, then reload after saving your work. If it remains inactive, use the merchant contact details on your receipt before purchasing again.
Check your OpenAI API keyWhether the key was copied completely and is still valid.Review the key in your OpenAI account, then enter the correct key in Connect API. Keep it out of support messages.
Monthly render limit reachedThe Renders this month counter and your membership allowance.Wait for the next studio usage period or review membership options. More OpenAI API credits do not raise the studio's render cap.
OpenAI could not create the imageAPI billing and usage limits, the project's model access, and the requested content.Review your OpenAI account and the image-generation requirements. If the issue appears temporary, try again later; repeated retries alone do not resolve missing access or funding.
The key is missing after a reloadWhether the page or tab was reopened.Prepare the brief and settings, then reconnect the key. The studio deliberately keeps it only in tab memory.
Demo checkout completeWhether you used the Google Ads checkout demonstration.Return to the main site for membership setup. Demo checkout does not charge a real payment or activate a membership.

Bring your first brief to the studio.

Review the setup requirements, then choose your mode, format, and quality. Image generation requires an active membership and your own OpenAI API key, with separate API usage charges.
