AI images for email campaigns: brief, layout, and review

An email image should help a subscriber understand the message and take the next step. Plan it inside the email layout, beside the real headline and action, rather than treating it as a standalone poster. The final email must still communicate when the image is unavailable.

Choose the image's role in the message

For a collection launch, the image might establish the setting while the email text names the collection and explains the offer. For a product education email, it might show one useful feature. Decide which information belongs in the image and which must remain available as real text.

Write the headline, supporting sentence, destination, and button label first. Place an empty image area into that draft. If removing the image makes the offer impossible to understand, move the essential facts into the email's text before commissioning the visual.

Compose for the actual email module

Use the width and crop of the chosen email template as the starting point. Ask for one focal subject and enough space around it to support the intended framing. Avoid relying on tiny props or subtle text that disappears when the message is viewed at a smaller size.

The studio offers square, landscape, and portrait starting formats. These are generation formats, not a complete set of email export presets. Bring the selected PNG into a design tool, prepare the required crop, and inspect it in the email editor before approval.

Keep the offer and action editable

Keep the headline, price, dates, and button in the email's text and layout controls where possible. A complete offer baked into an image becomes harder to update, translate, and read when the image is blocked. Generated lettering also needs careful checking against the approved copy.

If a visual treatment requires a small amount of text inside an asset, add that text in the finishing tool and ensure the same essential information remains available in the message. Use the real brand artwork rather than asking the model to invent a close approximation.

Prepare the image for its real context

Export only the dimensions and detail the placement needs. Compare compressed versions visually at their displayed size, checking edges, gradients, and important product details. Keep the original source separately so future crops do not depend on a compressed email export.

Write a text alternative that matches the image's purpose. If the image itself is a link, consider the destination and the other text within that same link. A descriptive paragraph about color may be less useful than identifying the action when the image is the only linked content.

Review the assembled email before sending

Use the email platform's previews and test messages to inspect the clients and screen sizes relevant to your audience. Check the complete message with images unavailable, the destination link, the mobile crop, and the final product claims. The image file alone cannot establish that the email works.

Record the final asset and the campaign it belongs to. If performance is later compared, keep the subject line, offer, audience, and sending conditions in the record too. A difference in clicks does not isolate the image's effect when the rest of the email changed.
