Separate essential requirements from preferences
An ecommerce team may need to preserve an uploaded product photograph. An editorial team may need only a new conceptual illustration. Those requirements lead to different shortlists even when both teams describe their need as AI images.
Write essential requirements as verifiable statements: accepts the required source asset, supports the needed revision, exports a usable file, and fits the account arrangement. A visually impressive demonstration should not compensate for a missing essential capability.
Ask for evidence in a consistent format
Use official documentation for product features and a bounded test for questions the documentation cannot resolve. Date the record and identify the tested plan or settings. An old demonstration may not describe the current interface or access conditions.
| Criterion | Evidence to collect | Decision rule |
|---|---|---|
| Source inputs | Supported input types in current documentation | Reject routes missing an essential input |
| Revision control | A test of the specific requested change | Record what else changed unexpectedly |
| Deliverable | Actual dimensions, format, and finishing needs | Match the destination requirement |
| Complete cost | Membership, service use, review, and finishing | Compare the same scope |
Avoid scoring unknowns as successes
Mark an untested capability as untested. If a feature is described but unavailable on the account used for the trial, record that distinction. A numerical score should not hide missing evidence or a failed requirement.
THE RENDER OFFICE is a candidate for new PNG concepts from text. The current studio does not upload product photographs, import CAD models, or provide a shared project archive. Include those boundaries before deciding whether a test would answer your brief.
Keep the purchase recommendation conditional
Write a recommendation such as suitable for early atmosphere concepts under this brief. Include unresolved questions and the workflow needed for final production. This is more actionable than naming a universal best generator.
Revisit the scorecard when the assignment, plan, or product changes. Preserve the original record so a later team can see why the decision was reasonable at the time. A well-scoped recommendation should make its limits as clear as its advantages.
